This particular typology of striking errors includes all those coins that have been minted on objects other than those envisaged by the characteristics of the issue decree.
The term object is understood as any concrete thing that could end up in the beating chamber for any reason at the time of minting.
The first case concerns the planchets produced for a given nominal and struck with the dies of another nominal.
Cases are known in Italy of the discovery of the aforementioned in rolls officially packaged by the Mint. According to the opinion of some experts, these coins were intentionally minted and for profit, but the reality is quite different. Very rarely, it can happen that planchets remain entangled in the containers or conveyor belts used for transport and storage, and that these are inserted into the money press at the wrong time. This explains the reason why it is possible to find wrong planchets also on circulated coins (E.B.17 and E.B.18).
